The Gu hexagram in the Book of Changes (I Ching) appears in the form of the Wind trigram below the Mountain trigram. The Mountain trigram represents a fixed, masculine energy characterized by being still and resistant. The Wind trigram represents a yielding, feminine energy characterized by being adaptable and submissive. Therefore, the image of the Gu hexagram in the Book of Changes is described as "wind under the mountain, with insects hidden within," implying potential danger and poisoning.

In the Book of Changes, the Gu hexagram represents chaos, danger, and deception, and is called "Gu." In ancient China, "Gu" referred to insects and poisons and was often described as a disease caused by a worm or insect entering the body, leading to physical discomfort. Such diseases were considered to be caused by black magic and were not considered to be within the realm of medicine. The Gu hexagram also suggests the presence of evil and malignant forces in the human heart, which need to be guarded against and eliminated.

Therefore, the main theme of the Gu hexagram is to warn people to be vigilant and cautious, and to maintain awareness to prevent any potential danger. This attitude of being cautious and alert can also be applied to interpersonal relationships, business, investment, and other areas, reminding people to maintain a skeptical attitude and not to easily trust the words of others, in order to avoid being exploited or deceived.
